From the Airwaves to the Field, NFL 2012 Divisional Round Wrap Up

All the talk on radio and in the sports world today was of course about this past weekend’s NFL playoffs.

Colin Cowherd spoke on his radio show The Herd today about Tom Brady and the Patriots stomping the Broncos 45-10, then went through Denver’s schedule next season. Winning a division championship in the NFL brings a tougher schedule the next year, and Denver’s is brutal in 2012 featuring games against seven of this year's play off teams.

Colin noted, “They (The Broncos) were the only team blown out by Buffalo this year.” It doesn't look good for Tebow time in 2012.

New England’s blow out win was no surprise, and neither was the Ravens winning a close game against the Texans.

Baltimore’s defense came through after Houston stuffed Ray Rice on fourth down at the goal line. John Harbaugh’s decision to go for the touchdown rather than kick the field goal and go up by seven would have been the center of controversy had the Texans drove down the field to win.

It could be a Harbaugh Super Bowl with Jim Harbaugh and his 49ers winning against the Saints in San Francisco.

Most of the sports media didn’t expect the 49ers to win, but the most surprising game was the Giants blow out of the Packers. A lot of people gave New York a chance to win, but not many said thought they would dominate in Green Bay.

Jason Smith filled in on this Martin Luther King Jr. holiday for Jim Rome on The Jungle and compared Eli Manning to Brett Favre. Eli has that throw it up for the big play or a big mistake quality that Favre possessed. This season and especially this postseason the big play worked in Manning’s favor.

On one of the big plays that worked for Manning yesterday he threw a pass to Hakeem Nicks who broke away from the Pack (pun). Nicks scored a touchdown and noticeably was watching the big screen to see if anyone was chasing him. I’m sure he watched the big screen replay on his hail mary touchdown catch just before the first half ended, too.

Noticeably as well is Ravens pro bowl full back Vonta Leach got his revenge against the Texans. There was a reference during the broadcast that Leach was on Houston last season, but Leach left to sign with Baltimore after being insulted by the Texans offer. Good for him.

And lastly, in case you missed it, Ndamunkong Suh was on the NFL Fox game day staff. Who wants to listen to what this guy has to say after his recent head stomping action? Not to mention all of his other fine-able extracurricular activities he’s committed throughout his short career.

Sure Suh is relevant because he just lost in the playoffs last week, but can’t they get another guy from a losing team that is more respectable? Let Suh try to repair his image on his own time.

And in the spirit of the good commercial season with the Super Bowl fast approaching, I end today hoping you all will listen up for the latest Yamaha Waverunner commercial out on radio right now. It's supposedly the "Most fun you can have between your legs."
