Seven Owls received All-Sun Belt team honors for their performances in the 2008 season.
The surprise was a name left off the list.
Quarterback Rusty Smith, who was the 2007 Sun-Belt player of the year and this year's pre-season Sun-Belt player of the year, did not have a good enough year to add the award to his resume.
It's not shocking to the fact that he earned his spot as a top notch player this year and was snubbed, it's more because of how he was expected to play and how his numbers dropped off from last season causing him to not be recognized.
It's a fitting ending to a roller coaster ride season that has ended luckily with a bowl game.
