Today's Intriguing College Football Matchups

Syracuse Orange at Penn State Nittany Lions; Don't take the 28 spread for Penn State. Even though the game's in Nittany Lions territory, Syracuse's quarterback Greg Paulus is used to high pressure situations from his days being the starting point guard for Duke's basketball team. I still like Penn State to win it, just not by 28.

Stanford Cardinals at Wake Forest Demon Deacons; Don't be surprised if Stanford marches in and upsets Wake Forest, making the ACC look even worse than it already does after week one. There's talk of Stanford's quarterback Andrew Luck being an NFL prospect and with him the Cardinals will have skill and Luck on their side.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Michigan Wolverines; I think Notre Dame is finally back to a top ten contender and they'll prove it today in Michigan. Not that Michigan is any power house, but a blow out win will get the nation noticing the Fighting Irish.

UCLA Bruins at Tennessee Volunteers; Don't take the 11 point spread for Tennessee. The Volunteers face UF next week and will be looking slightly ahead after head coach Lane Griffin's comments about beating the Gators earlier this year. UCLA is a decent team, but I expect Griffin to refocus his team in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory by a touchdown.

And finally the big game...

USC Trojans at Ohio State Buckeyes; Or should I say the big blow out game? USC's true freshman quarterback Matt Barkley came out strong last week. I highly doubt Trojans head coach Pete Carrol would put his trust in a freshman if he didn't believe in him. I'd say Carrol's resume earns him some credit. After the Buckeyes nearly lost to Navy last week, I think it's a sure bet that they're over rated again this year and USC's talent will over match the Buckeyes. Final score: USC 38 OSU 10. Yes, take the seven point spread. It's the most guaranteed bet today.
